Melvin Newsome
The Melvin Newsome Scholarship Foundation, named after my beloved grandfather, who grew up on a farm.
He married his high school sweetheart. They had two children before he went into the army and fought in the Korean War.
He had another child years later and supported his family while working at Graniteville Company as a machine operator. He took on additional jobs to support his family. He was a strong advocate of education and was a father of three children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
A husband, father, grandfather, minister, and veteran.
The Scholarship is to help woman and men in undergraduate and graduate colleges and universities.
The Foundation is to help children and families in need/hardship. Donation(s) are welcome and appreciated.
